When Love Overflows

Torchgrab Africa brings joy to students in Nairobi, Kenya

There’s a verse that’s followed me through every step of ministry:

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…” Ephesians 3:20

I’ve seen this verse come alive, not only in the big moments, but in the quiet, daily faithfulness of this work. In the late nights troubleshooting code and editing videos. In the early mornings preparing supplies. In the laughter of a child receiving her first Bible. In the dust, the joy, the tears. Again and again, I’m reminded: God's love doesn’t just meet us. It overflows.

That’s the mystery of it all. You pour yourself out, teaching, planning, carrying, giving, and yet you end up full. More than full. Overflowing. Even when I reach the end of myself, God keeps going. His strength fills the gaps where mine runs out.

On our recent ministry trip to Kenya in May, we gathered each day at the schools with students, staff, and teachers all packed in to sing “Who You Say I Am.” Our voices shook the walls. If there had been a roof, we’d have blown it off!

“It felt like we were standing in the overflow, not just singing a song, but living it.”

That’s what love in action looks like. Not polished or perfect. Just poured out.

That moment captures something that words fall short of: the spirit of Torchgrab Africa’s ministry. We don’t come to “fix” anything. We come to stand in the gap, to walk alongside, and to lift up.

Torchgrab Africa’s ministry has always been about more than projects or numbers. It’s about presence. About stories. About relationships that echo eternity. We serve vulnerable children, yes, but more than that, we see them.

We learn their names. We remember their faces. We believe in their future. And we point them back to the one true Source who fills to overflowing.

In Psalm 23, David wrote, “You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” That’s not just poetry. It’s a promise. And I’ve lived it.

We don’t serve from scarcity. We serve from the saucer.

Because when you’ve been filled by the love of Christ, truly filled, you can’t help but pass it on. Not from empty places. Not out of guilt or grind. But from abundance. From joy. From the overflow.

That’s what Torchgrab Africa is about.

And that’s the kind of love that can change the world.
