Torchgrab Africa in Action

We're providing access to quality education in Nairobi, Kenya, sharing the gospel with thousands of students and providing holistic support (spirit, body and mind) for kids to thrive!

STEM, Technology and Digital Literacy

Access to technology in Kenyan schools remains limited, particularly in primary and secondary schools. Recent data indicates that less than 10% of pupils have access to digital learning materials

We are working to connect elementary and secondary students with opportunities in STEM through our computer labs, science lab and library.

1 in 3 schools in Africa lack access to clean water.

Access to clean water has a direct impact on children's education and learning. In the slums, clean water is often scarce, and many children suffer from illness due to poor sanitation and contaminated water. When children are sick, they may miss school and have difficulty keeping up with their peers after extended absences from the classroom

All three schools - Petra A, Petra B and Petra C - are equipped with water filtration systems and restroom facilities for students and staff.

Clean Water for Thousands!

Access to clean water allows students to focus on their futures, not the water crisis. Since the filtration system was introduced, student sickness has dramatically decreased, and hydration levels have improved. As a result, more students are attending school regularly and falling behind less due to water-related illnesses.

Porridge Partners Program

Our Porridge Partners Program aims to provide consistent, nutritious meals to all students at Petra School on the Rock. By offering fortified porridge, we address malnutrition and support healthy growth, especially for young learners. We provide porridge five days a week during school.

Poultry Partners Program

Our Poultry Partners Program supports students by promoting poultry farming as a sustainable source of nutrition and learning opportunity. By providing training, resources, and access to eggs and poultry, we help students improve their hands-on life skills, while supporting them physically.

“True spirituality that is pure in the eyes of our Father God is to make a difference in the lives of the orphans, and widows in their troubles.” - James 1:27

At Torchgrab Africa, we take this verse to heart. We work closely with vulnerable children and single-parent families in the slums and support them spiritually and in their daily lives through food-assistance programs and opportunities to engage in the church community.

Over 50 orphans attend Petra School on the Rock. Over 70% of students at Petra School come from single-parent homes.

We help these vulnerable children through food programs to combat food-insecurity, tuition scholarships so they can attend school, and through local ministry partners so they can have a home and place to go when they aren’t at school.

Introducing the Promise Partners Program

Our NEW Promise Partners Program exists to directly support needy students and orphans at Petra School on the Rock. Our mission is to bridge the gap between a life in poverty and one filled with the promise of a brighter future, guided by Christian principles and values, through the provision of a valuable education at Petra School on the Rock.

Promise Partners who decide to give $15 a month for one year have the joy of supporting ONE student's tuition, school and uniform expenses.

Promise Partners who decide to give $30 a month for one year have the joy of supporting TWO student's tuition, school and uniform expenses.

The Whole Child Approach

We believe that the best solutions to breaking cycles of poverty begin with a focus on kids. Our model is based on the "Whole Child" approach, which aims to ensure that every child in the communities we work with is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. This model prioritizes the holistic development of community, church, and school resources that have the power to transform children's lives. By addressing the needs of children from multiple angles, we hope to create lasting change and break the cycle of poverty.

Introducing Petra B School on the Rock

This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes!"

"This School is dedicated to the children in the area who now can enter this "ARK" of Christ's love, hope, and education for a future out of poverty and suffering."
